Minister says 2017 inflation could be lower than 4%

11 April 2017

Russia could see inflation of less than 4% in 2017, Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov said at the annual April Conference at the Higher School of Economics.

“We are seeing inflation decrease. This year we expect inflation of roughly 4% or perhaps even less”, the minister was quoted as saying by TASS news agency.

Siluanov also said that the Russian economy’s growth potential will not exceed 1.5% without structural reforms.

“So now we face the challenge of drawing up a programme on which the government and the Centre of Strategic Developments. Proposals will be considered in the near future and will be pooled together into a single programme that will form the basis for the government’s activities”, Siluanov said.
