RDIF: Foreign investors increasingly want to invest in Russian economy

5 April 2017

Foreign investors increasingly want to invest in the Russian economy right now, Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev said, per the Oil of Russia portal.

“It’s very important that Russia has entered a growth trajectory. Investors have offered a favourable assessment of the actions taken by the Central Bank and government during the crisis because there were apocalyptic forecasts that the banking system would collapse given the challenges that existed”, he said.

“For this reason, investors increasingly want to invest, but it’s important for them to understand that the government is focused on growth, investment, and proper motivation that will be constructive”, Dmitriev added.

“As far as growth is concerned, we are probably the most optimistic. We expect growth of roughly 2% this year. This is also attributable to the fact that oil prices have stabilized and not passively, but actively through the joint actions of Russia and Saudi Arabia as well as OPEC countries. So it’s very important that Russia also take a proactive position here”, Dmitriev said.
