Renova to invest roughly RUB 14 bln in greenhouse complex in Sverdlovsk Region
Renova Group of Companies CEO Viktor Vekselberg plans to grow cucumbers and tomatoes year-round and by 2020 the greenhouse complex’s capacity will increase to 40,000 tonnes of vegetables per year, Znak.com reports.
According to the publication, the greenhouse complex will be built near the Novo-Sverdlovsk Combined Heat and Power Plant (which is owned by the Renova Group’s T-Plus). This will make it possible to supply the greenhouse with electricity and heat from the plant. According to Renova’s plan, 55 hectares are required to implement the project. The ‘urban forest’ land plot category was initially considered for the project. Since it proved impossible to quickly change the category for the project’s implementation, the decision was made to look at land next to the plant from the direction of Berezovsky.
Vekselberg and Sverdlovsk Region Governor Evgeny Kuyvashev signed the agreement to build the greenhouse complex in the region at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi on February 27. Renova also announced plans at that time to implement similar projects in Komi, Perm Territory and Chuvashia. The details of the projects were not reported at the time.
