17 January 2019

The results have been announced for the first stage of the Healthy Life Innovative Solutions Contest organized by the Roscongress Foundation together with the S-Group Corporate Communication Center along with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and the Skolkovo Foundation are organizational partners for the contest.

The contest is being held to select, promote, and commercialize the most promising and innovative developments for therapeutic and diagnostic medical devices, digital medicine, and new drugs that have a high level of social value and improve the public’s quality of life.

A total of 115 developers from 23 regions of Russia registered on the contest’s official website. Most of the applications came from Moscow and the Moscow Region, although the geography of the contest also includes entries from the Volga Federal District, Southern Federal District, North-West Federal District, and Siberian Federal District, among others.

Most of the projects (45%) involve the development of hardware and software systems for rehabilitation purposes as well as medical devices for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. In addition, in terms of percentages, a large number of projects are devoted to the digitalization and development of the social component of the healthcare system (19%). Developments in new drugs and diagnostic test systems account for every fifth project (21%). Up to 10% of applicants submitted new mobile applications and gadgets to improve the quality of life for patients. More than half of the socially significant developments consist of finished products or technologies that require marketing campaigns for development and scaling. Many of them need investment to complete testing and for registration.

“The rapidly developing high-tech developments in medicine and pharmaceuticals help to increase the duration of active human life. I believe that the innovative projects of the Healthy Life contest participants will provide a breakthrough in the near future, will be successfully used in the professional activities of doctors, and will improve the quality of life of the people in our country”, Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev said.

After the pre-moderation stage, the applications will undergo an online examination after which the semi-finalists of the contest will be selected. They will take part in a pitch session at the Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+, which will be held on 13 February 2019 during the opening day of the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

Voting by the investment jury will precede the selection of the finalist teams that will have the opportunity to present their projects at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2019.

Detailed information about the Healthy Life Forum: Towards 80+ is available on the official website of the event, which is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
