Applications for Best Innovation Start-up Contest Business Priority are In

30 January 2020

The Roscongress Foundation’s Business Priority Project has closed the acceptance of applications for three contests: Top 10 Innovative Companies in Energy, Top 10 Innovative Companies in the Environment, and Top 10 Innovative Healthcare Companies. A total of over 200 applications have been submitted, all approximately evenly distributed across the three contests. The winners will be named at the Russian Investment Forum that will take place 12–14 February in Sochi.

“We partner with federal ministries and leading investment funds to organize contest for tech start-ups. The objective is to implement the state policy on introducing innovative technology in the crucial social and economic areas of our country’s development and increasing quality of life of our citizens. This is basically a practical application of our forums,” noted Alexander Stuglev, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation.

Most projects to take part in the energy contest are somehow related to digitalization of the industry. Environmentalists are focused on waste recycling, assessment of air, water, and soil quality. The healthcare part is represented by start-ups focused on early cancer diagnosis and telemedicine. Thus, for example, developers suggest a method of remote monitoring of fetal development, of essential health parameters, etc.

“The terms of the contests suggest that we will select 30 promising projects – three in each area. The winning teams will get the Business Priority status, which means that the Roscongress Foundation will provide comprehensive support in searching for investors, promotion and scaling in Russian and international markets. This implies a lot of consistent work not only at the forums, but also throughout the year,” said Marianna Skragan, Director of the Business Priority project.

The expert jury that will choose the winning start-ups is made from representative of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Health, Roskachestvo, the Skolkovo Foundation, the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology, and other reputable organizations.
