Winners of first season of ‘Million-Dollar Idea’ TV show for startups receive awards at ceremony

15 February 2018
An official ceremony was held today at the Russian Investment Forum to present awards to the winners of the first season of the ‘Million-Dollar Idea’ television show for startups and to present the second part of the show. The event was attended by Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev, Vnesheconombank Chairman Sergey Gorkov, Vnesheconombank Deputy Chairman and Member of the Management Board Alexey Ivanchenko, NTV channel anchor Sergey Malozyomov as well as the leaders and developers of the winning projects.

Roscongress Foundation CEO Alexander Stuglev awarded the three winners with certificates for participation in the key Russian economic forums organized by the Foundation, including the offsite SPIEF sessions in Russian regions and abroad, with the ability to present one’s project to domestic and foreign investors. He also noted that the presentation of projects featured in ‘Million-Dollar Idea’ to investors serves to attract additional attention to them as well as to increase the likelihood of securing the financing and further development of the startups.
“The format of the ‘Million-Dollar Idea’ show is unique in and of itself. We are essentially shaping the image of a hero of the modern Russia – an innovator who is capable of bringing the boldest ideas to life with a team of like-minded people and make money in Russia using his/her brain. It is essential that the startup teams received active support from the audience, who sent in their money. And the most support was given to socially-oriented projects that change our lives for the better. Our country is rich in talent and we have already announced the selection of projects for the second season of ‘Million-Dollar Idea’. I am confident that several more breakthrough start-ups will find broad support, both among investors and among the audience”, Vnesheconombank Chairman Sergey Gorkov said.

“These events are effective platforms for promoting Russian initiatives and projects in various areas that are important to our country, including innovations”, Alexander Stuglev said. “We will hold the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Forum at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum for the fourth year in a row, thus providing support to small and medium-sized businesses. We would be thrilled if you took part in this Forum as well”.

Support for the ‘Million-Dollar Idea’ television show for startups is provided as part of agreements between the Roscongress Foundation and Vnesheconombank (the Cooperation Agreement between the Roscongress Foundation and VEB was signed at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi in 2017).
