Digital economy development programme to span the period up to 2025

27 February 2017

Security for digital economy players and protection from cyber threats will be among its pillars.

The digital economy development programme currently under development by the government will cover the period up to 2025, the TASS news agency reported citing Leonid Osipov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Experts’ Directorate.

“The programme should be ready by June (this year) and have a 2025 horizon; it’s hard to achieve anything within a year or two. Such ideas have been discussed so far”, Leonid Osipov told at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered development of the programme. It covers operations of companies and markets implementing digital technology, the technology as such, including big data, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, sensorics, robotics, digital, virtual and augmented reality, etc., and creating conditions, including a legal framework, for their operation and development that will enable “national and global champions” to be created in the high-tech industry, Leonid Osipov noted.
