Several important agreements for Russia’s regions to be signed at Sochi Forum

A number of important agreements for the regions of the Russian Federation will be signed at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi (February 27–28, 2017).

The Krasnodar Region plans to sign 18 agreements worth a total of approximately RUB 22 billion, including agreements valued at RUB 4 billion in the consumer sector and RUB 3.2 billion in the industrial sector.

The Ingushetia government intends to conclude agreements on the construction of an eighteen-floor residential building, a wholesale warehouse logistics complex, a small and a solid waste processing plant.

A delegation from Sakhalin will sign a number of documents on cooperation, including agreements on joint projects with PJSC Gazprom Neft to provide the Sakhalin Region with bitumen and lubricants as well as process fluids and with the National State Centre of Multi-Component Information Computer Environments on the establishment of the Quantorium children’s technopark in Sakhalin (a new format for supplementary education in the country in which priority is given to engineering sciences).

The Republic of Adygeya plans to sign an agreement with PJSC Kubanenergo on reducing the period required to connect applicants to power grids in order to increase the region’s energy capacity and eliminate infrastructural restrictions.

The Nenets Autonomous District and Social Investment Agency (SIA) plan to sign an agreement to develop a public-private partnership in the region in different sectors, including the social, educational and cultural sectors.

The leaders of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, the Republic of Karelia, the Republic of Komi, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District – Yugra and other regions also plan to sign a number of agreements at the Forum.

The volume and number of agreements to be signed at the Russian Investment Forum in 2017 is expected to be significantly higher than in previous years.

In 2016, a total of 255 agreements valued at RUB 721.89 billion were signed at the Sochi Forum. The highest level of activity came from Russia’s regions with 51 regions signing 140 agreements in different sectors with a focus on the socioeconomic development of the regions as well as the development of interregional ties in trade, economic, scientific, technical, social, cultural and other spheres.

Many of the agreements signed at the Forum are in the stage of implementation. For example, in the Krasnodar Region the company Tehada launched construction on a deep-frozen vegetable plant, the company Greenhouse Complex “Green Line” (the operator of the retailer Magnit) began building a mushroom growing centre in the region’s capital, while a new airport in Gelendzhik will be ready to accept its first passengers by the end of 2018.

In the Saratov Region, investment projects are under way to build the LLC Volga Greenhouse Plant and Russia’s first enterprise to replace imports of reclamation machinery.

In the Tambov Region, LLC Belaya Dacha Farming has launched construction on a potato storage facility with a price tag of RUB 1.5 billion.

Projects are also being implemented to build new Lenta stores in six cities of the Rostov Region in addition to agricultural projects in the Tula, Saratov, Tambov, Leningrad, Rostov and Krasnodar Regions as well as the Republic of Adygeya.

The Russian Investment Forum in Sochi has proven to be an effective platform for the federal and regional authorities to engage in active cooperation with the business community as well as the heads of Russian and foreign companies in different sectors of the economy and the social sphere.
