16 February 2018

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets presented the Alexander Pochinok Prize to the winners of a competition among regional social development programmes. The ceremony was held as part of the Russian Investment Forum 2018 in Sochi.

“The social sector is very clearly oriented towards people on a personal level. And it takes a special skill, a special ability, and a special competence to work with such projects. This competition has a special status for our country. All innovations that are currently being implemented in the regions are placed in the piggy bank of best practices. They are spread out all over the country,” she said.

The competition involves selecting and evaluating initiatives and projects that aim to solve social problems in the regions using the public-private partnership mechanism. The competition is organized by the Open Government and conducted among the regions of the Russian Federation with the support of the Government Expert Council, the Ministry of Economic Development, and the Rector of the Russian State Social University.

In 2018, all 85 regions of the Russian Federation submitted applications to take part in the competition.

First place went to the Government of the Irkutsk Region for its ‘Impulse of Good’ volunteer development programme in the social services system for the population. The prize for second place was awarded to Pskov Region administration’s project ‘Children’s Village – SOS’. Coming in third was the Chechen Republic government’s ‘The Right to be Equal’ programme.
