Ministry improves unemployment outlook for 2017–2019

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development has lowered its base forecast for unemployment in the Russian Federation to 5.2% in 2017, 5% in 2018, and 4.9% in 2020, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin told journalists while presenting the updated macroeconomic forecast for the period until 2020.

In the previous macroeconomic forecast published in late November, the Ministry of Economic Development expected unemployment of 5.9% in 2017, 5.8% in 2018, and 5.7% in 2019.
