29 January 2018

The Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) will present the results and award the winners of the All-Russian Competition of Best Practices and Initiatives for the Socioeconomic Development of the Regions of the Russian Federation in 2017 at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi in February, ASI Communications Director Igor Karachin told TASS on Friday.

“We will present the results and award the winners of the All-Russian Competition of Best Practices and Initiatives for the Socioeconomic Development of the Regions of the Russian Federation in 2017 at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi. The goal of the contest is to solve socioeconomic problems in the regions by identifying, selecting, describing, and replicating the best regional and municipal practices and initiatives,” he said, adding that the competition also helps to identify and create tools to support the implementation of these practices and initiatives, including at the nationwide level.

Karachin noted that this year the competition received applications from 77 constituent entities of the Russian Federation with a total of 533 practices and initiatives. The regions of the Volga Federal District showed the greatest activity with the submission of 145 practices and initiatives, and the Central and North-West Federal Districts were also among the leaders.

The list of finalists included three practices in each of the seven nominations, Karachin said. The Khabarovsk Territory and the Republic of Buryatia were finalists in the ‘Development of Human Capital’ nomination. The Lipetsk, Orenburg, and Amur Regions were on the short list for the ‘Involvement of the Public in Key Decision-Making’ nomination. The Chelyabinsk and Tyumen Regions as well as Moscow are vying for the title of winners in creating conditions that aim to increase economic potential.

The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District (KMAD-Yugra) and the Tyumen and Samara Regions will compete in the ‘Ensuring the Accessibility of Social Services’ nomination, while the initiatives of Buryatia and the Astrakhan and Kaluga Regions made the final round for the development of agriculture and the creation of comfortable conditions for business in rural areas. The best initiatives will also be determined for the development of a region’s tourist potential. In this nomination, the short list consists of the Krasnodar Territory and the Samara and Ryazan Regions. The finalists in the ‘Creating Conditions for the Development of Volunteer Activities’ nomination were Chuvashia and the Kaliningrad and Saratov Regions.
