The battle of lugers and luge technologies, tight turns at a speed of 130 km/h and a 5g G-force are all part and parcel of the FIL World Luge Championship, which participants of the Russian Investment Forum will have the opportunity to attend. For the first time, Russia will host the World Championships of one of the most dynamic and exciting winter sports. On 14–16 February, at the Sanki Luge Centre in Sochi, seven sets of medals will be fought for. Roman Repilov and Tatyana Ivanova will start as leaders in the luge World Cup standings, and the Russian relay team will aim to defend its world title. The Russian team also includes the 2015 world champion Semyon Pavlichenko. The most famous participant will be the German Felix Loch – one of only two three-time Olympic champions in the history of luge. The German national team also includes the winners of the 2018 Olympics and five-time world doubles champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Beneken. The matchup between the national teams of Russia and Germany is of particular interest in the upcoming competition. Lugers from Italy, Austria, Canada and the USA will also be among the favourites to lift the World Cup.
